Best Bets of the Day (March 15th)

Well, we lost in the first legs of both parlays yesterday. When will the curse be lifted? Hopefully today. I only have one 3-bet set for you today, so it will be a relaxed sort of day for betting. There are a ton of games that still don’t have odds yet, so it will be interesting to see what those lines are and if they can be potential plays. Yesterday, Florida State ruined things for me to start. I knew it wasn’t a good sign when Carolina started pulling away at the end of the first half. Tulsa at least had a shot. They just couldn’t get them to count when they most mattered. Thankfully, Mississippi State bailed us out from a parlay blank. As for hockey, it was another disappointment. The Panthers got shut out… I knew the risk going against the Canes, but still, how does the best team in hockey not even put one goal up? The Stars as well. What happened??? 6-2? Again, thank goodness for the Minnesota Wild bailing us out of that jam. If I need a good puck line, I know I can trust them. Ok, so today, I’m gonna give you a college game to start and two hockey games to finish things off. Despite not putting together a successful parlay for y’all so far, I think today is the day. I am confident in today’s picks. If not, at least we’re having fun, right?

South Florida Athletics

-       American Conference Tournament

South Florida (-6.5) (-115) vs. East Carolina

With Charlotte being added to the AAC this season, I have watched more AAC basketball than I ever have in my life. With that being said, USF is the real deal. Even if they don’t win the conference tourney, they will still be in the NCAA tournament. That isn't saying that they don’t want to win here. South Florida isn’t exactly a hotbed for basketball, so a chance like this only comes around so often to collect trophies. Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim has them playing great basketball and this is, by far, their best season in the program’s history. They’re gonna want all of the gold. East Carolina had a tough, game yesterday against Tulsa and I think they will get it handed to them today by the Bulls of South Florida

Canadian Press

-       NHL Regular Season

Winnipeg Jets (-1.5) (-105) vs. Anaheim Ducks

Los Angeles Kings (-1.5) (-135) vs. Chicago Blackhawks

These are the only two games on the NHL slate tonight and I think both puck lines are great plays. The Jets are one of the better teams in the Western Conference and facing one of the worst in the NHL. Also, the Ducks played last night and got shut out. It wouldn't surprise me if they get blanked again. Laurent Brossoit is projected to be guarding the net tonight and there’s an argument for him as the best backup goalie in the game. If not, their other option is arguably the best goalie in hockey, hands down, Connor Hellebuyck. They’re a winner either way tonight and I think they will cover the puck line too. Also, John Gibson is the project goalie for the Ducks and he has given up 16 goals in his last 3.

As for the Kings puck line, I don’t love it, but I do like it. The Blackhawks got their wins out of the way for the month a couple of days ago to prove they aren't tanking, but at this point, they’re obviously playing for draft stock. They have won 3 of the last 4, but to be fair, they were two of those were against Arizona and the other was Anaheim, so not exactly ruining playoff chances for anybody. The Kings are fighting for their lives to maintain that 3rd place in the Pacific. Granted, they still have the wild card to fall back on, but the distance isn't terribly far between them and the Minnesota Wild if they drop back to the WC. I think they will win easily tonight, but this will be the first meeting between the two teams. Also, Cam Talbot is tending the goal tonight and I think he’ll do great against the Hawks in this one. It is also pretty rare for them to only win by singles goals, so if they’re leading, look to cash in. Anze Kopitar has been a little chilly lately, look for him to get a point tonight (-166).

USF (-6.5); Winnipeg Jets (-1.5); Los Angeles Kings (-1.5)
