Song of the Day: I'll Be Home For Christmas

I’ll Be Home For Christmas by Bing Crosby. I’ll Be Home For Christmas was written by Kim Gannon and Walter Kent in 1943 and was recorded in the same year and released by Bing Crosby. The song was written in honor of WWII soldiers who were overseas and longed to be home for Christmas. That definitely puts into perspective of how old this song is. Like most Christmas tunes, this one has been covered numerous times. Most notably by Elvis, which released the song in 1957 and that was a year before the Billboard charts became a thing, and the three other artists that charted with this song were Kelly Clarkson, Josh Groban and Camila Cabello. One other fun fact about the song, in December of 1965 with the NASA space program in full swing, the astronauts on the Gemini 7 flight requested this song be played when landing back to earth on December 18th.
