Song of the Day: Paris Blues

Paris Blues by The Doors. The year is 2022 and you are listening to a song from the The Doors that was released in the past week. Yes, you read that right. The song is being labeled as the last known unreleased studio recording by The Doors. The song also took quite the path to get to this point. To start, nobody exactly knows when it was recorded. The official statement from the band is that it was recorded during The Soft Parade or L.A. Woman sessions, which would date it anywhere from July of 1968 through January of 1971. The master copy of the song was lost and the only known surviving copy was given to The Doors’ keyboardist Ray Manzarek, whose young son at the time partially damaged the copy by recording over some small parts in the song. And here we are 50+ years later and after some creative editing, Paris Blues has been released by The Doors. The song is also scheduled to be released this coming Black Friday on a new album that also features some unheard live recordings for The Doors.
