RBC Heritage DFS Preview

We finally had a very solid weekend at The Masters in terms of DFS. All 6 of my golfers made the cut and I feel the momentum rolling into the RBC Heritage. What a win by Hideki Matsuyama…he flat out dominated the last 2 days. Harbour Town Golf Links is where the PGA Tour will be playing this weekend in beautiful Hilton Head, South Carolina. The odds on favorite is Dustin Johnson at 12/1 according to Bovada. Last year’s champion Webb Simpson will also be in the field, along with many big names. The RBC Heritage normally is played after The Masters and the winner receives a sweet, plaid jacket.

I love the beach courses and Harbour Town does not disappoint. The views will be immaculate and the weather will be likewise…we are looking at mid-to-high 70s with a slight chance of rain to start the tournament. A couple things we will be looking at in making our lineup is Greens in Regulation, Putting and Scrambling. This course is riddled with trees and the greens are superbly small. The accurate and patient golfer will prevail.

Tier 1: Cameron Smith ($10,200)

I almost went with Smith last week, but I decided to pull the trigger here in Hilton Head. The Australian’s putting ability is great, as he is in the top-15 in that. His accuracy is above average and his playing form has been nearly perfect. Cameron Smith has not finished outside of the top-20 since January. That plaid jacket will look pretty cool on him at 30/1 odds.

Tier 2: Si Woo Kim ($7,900)

After a win at The American Express earlier in the season, Kim cooled off. That isn’t the case though in his previous 3…he has 3 straight top-25 and happens to be a top-10 scrambler. Kim’s price point is great at sub-$8k The South Korean does not lose strokes anywhere on the course either, so I like his odds at 40/1.

Tier 3: Charles Howell III ($7,200)

The Augusta, Georgia born golfer is truly either hit-or-miss. I have not picked Howell in quite some time, but I think this course is made for him. His is another great scrambler and I believe that his lack of distance will help him here in Hilton Head. It was hard for me to pass up an elite ball-striker at this price point and Howell is truly a dark-horse at 125/1 to win.
