Song of the Day: Built By Nations

Built By Nations by Greta Van Fleet. From the band’s second studio album, The Battle at Garden’s Gate, which was released in April of this year. The album debuted at #1 on the US rock charts and hit #7 on the US billboard. The band has quite a bit of international appeal as well with the album gong #8 in the UK, #3 in Germany, #1 in Belgium, #3 in Austria and Switzerland, and #6 in Italy. I’ve always been somewhat torn on the band because when they first burst on the scene they sounded so much like Led Zeppelin. Almost like there was a hidden Zeppelin album that had never been released. But then again, is it necessarily a bad thing to have more Led Zeppelin? I’ve never taken a deep dive into their music though but I did recently see them live in concert. I went to Atlanta two weeks ago for the Metallica/Cage The Elephant/Greta Van Fleet show, and Greta Van Fleet were pretty good. I was mostly there to see Cage The Elephant, but Greta Van Fleet were definitely my 2nd favorite act of the night after Cage. Led Zeppelin sounding or not, there’s no denying the musicianship, and they’re still only like 25 yrs old.
