AEW Power Rankings: Week of August 28th 2020

Things have been weird for AEW the last couple weeks due to their tv schedule being moved around, but I’m going to try to fit this in for the week. I didn’t release my rankings for last week, so I will include those at the end also. Dynamite was a decent show this week and there was a lot of added tension in some of the feuds just one week ahead of the All Out PPV. Here are the rankings for the week.

5: Lance Archer

Archer picked up a squash win on Thursday and it feels like it has been a long time since he has been on TV. He has appeared on AEW Dark, but I rarely watch, so I don’t really see who is on that show. Archer will be in the Casino Battle Royale next Saturday and I have to think he is one of the favorites to win the match.

4: Big Swole

Big Swole defeated Britt Baker, Reba, and Penelope Ford in a 3-on-1 handicap match to earn a future match with Baker. I guess Swole and Baker are going to face off at All Out, but it isn’t official yet. This is a match that i’m anxious to see. Baker has been great in her role while being injured. Hopefully she is healthy enough to carry on with a match, because I think she will be pushed back to the top of the women’s division. Also, if they decide to push Swole, i’d like to see here competing for the title.

3: Sammy Guevara

Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara had the main event match this week and it was an exciting tables match. I figured that this match would’ve happened at All Out, but it was a great match to end the night on Dynamite. I don’t really know what this means for Guevara moving forward, but it was a nice win against a legend of Hardy’s caliber.

2: FTR

A Tag Team gauntlet match opened the night this week and FTR won the match. It was a really fun match and they also happened to win a shot at the tag belts. I think the biggest news from this week’s show was the fact that The Young Bucks kicked Hangman Page out of The Elite for aiding FTR in the victory. It looks like everything is imploding with the tag champs and it’ll be an interesting couple of weeks.

1: Jon Moxley/MJF

AEW

AEW

This was the best segment of the week and this week’s Power Rankings top spot will be shared. Moxley got the better of MJF, but both performers were integral in the buildup to their match at All Out. It will be interesting to see if MJF becomes the new champ next week or if they’ll hold off.
