Song of the Day: Green River

Happy Friday July 24th everyone! Today’s featured artist is none other than Creedence Clearwater Revival. With all this hot weather we have been having…I felt like it would be good to go with a river song…hence “Green River”. This song was released on a hot, sunny (don’t hold me to that) August 3rd day in 1969. The other side of this album contained, “Bad Moon Rising” so you could say it was a success. CCR had a pretty distinct sound, especially with John Fogerty ripping the vocals. One thing to note about this song…John Fogerty said it was about a river near where he grew up, but it definitely has a southern, swamp vibe to it (Fogerty was born and raised in California). It’s pretty amazing to think of how CCR related to a wide variety of Americans in the 60’s and 70’s. Enjoy Creedence Clearwater Revival and have a great Friday!
