NBA regular season has kicked off! What's going on in the league?

The 2019/2020 NBA season has kicked off and it has not lacked entertainment. A few things to point out that have happened thus far…   Listed below are a few things that have happened across the league so far.

1. Zion Williamson has torn his Meniscus after have a dominant start to his career in preseason.

It is believed that Williamson tore his meniscus during his preseason game against the spurs on Oct. 13th. Zion finished the game with 22 points and 10 rebounds.  Virtually the kid is an agile tank and every time he leaps the amount of force produce on the impact will likely cause knee damage over time.  He is expected to return within 6-8 weeks and hopefully that gives him enough quality time to heal.  One thing I despise is the pressure put on athletes to return after an injury. Everyone knows how important the games are and how valuable the players are to the team, but take care of your health. Too often we have seen athletes return prematurely to just get reinjured and some of them are never able to get back to the level they were at prior. My advice to Zion is to sit out as long as you need. Make sure your knee is properly health then come back. The league has seen what you can do and they are going to be big men coming for you. It would be best if you competed at 100% and nothing less.

2.Ben Simmons finally drains his first NBA  career 3 pointer

On Oct. 8, 2019 Ben Simmons hit his first 3 point attempt in a exhibition game against Guangzhou Long Lions. Although this 3 pointer did not come in an office regular season game it is still a long time coming and should be celebrated. The former number 1 draft pick from 2016 has been a driver and passer the pass 3 years in the league. He has not been able to expand his game outside of those parameters and other player began to notice. If you ever watch a 76ers game you can see whoever is guarding Simmons plays off the 3 point line and attempts to take away the drive. Simmons was starting to put himself in the self-guardable category buy not expanding his range. Over the summer there were reports of Simmons working on his outside shot and it appears to have paid off. His first 3 pointer was smooth and confident. All I can say is keep working hard Ben. You are an elite athlete and once you’re a little more diversified with your offensive attack I have no doubt you be able to be an all-star.

3.Kyrie Irving turns into Uncle Drew in the nets opener.

On Oct. 24th “the one year anniversary of his grandfather’s passing” Kyrie came out looking like Uncle drew against the playground chumps. The Nets played the Timberwolves and Kyrie ended the game with 50 points. Looking virtually unstoppable the nets fell short the wolves in the end, but the performance brought life to Nets fans. Currently Kyrie is the loan superstar, but he is holding the fort down until Kevin “KD” Durant returns. I think Brooklyn is a good fit for Kyrie, but I would have been happier if he and KD landed in NY…but we will save that rant for another time. Speaking to Kyrie, I would say keep doing what you’re doing. You are a young talented superstar that has had a rough patch. You have shown growth an maturity on/off the court and you should continue to better yourself.

4.Vince Carter breaks the record for most seasons played.

Vince Carter was Drafter no. 5 in the 1998 NBA draft by the GSW from UNC. Carter was traded to the Toronto Raptors where he won the Rookie of the year award. Known as a high flyer, Carter also won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000. At the time I did not know many raptor fans, but I did know a lot of people with Vince Carter jerseys. Carter also made head way in the international arena during the Summer Olympics. During that time Vince Carter ended a man’s career. During the 2000 Summer Olympics Carter dunked over 7’2” Frenchman Frederic Weiss. At his size Weiss had high expectation, but after being dunked on he faded into history as that seven footer “Vince dunked posturized” (see video below). Carter would eventually play for the Nets, Magic, Suns, Mavericks, Grizzlies, and Kings. At 42 years old Vince still provides leadership and quality minute when called upon for his team. TO be honest I don’t know when he will step away from the game, but I don’t see it anytime soon. Vince might be going for the record of Nat Hickley whom played 1 game at 45 years and 363 days old in the 1097-1048 seasons. All and All SHOUT OUT TO ONE OF THE GREATS TO WEAR CAROLINA BLUE AND TO PLAY THE GAME! Keep doing you Vince, you are an inspiration to many!

5.LeBron James hair fell out during a game.

On Oct. 26th LeBron James was the victim of his own hair as it started to fall out during the game against Utah Jazz. Now we are not going to get on here and pretend like we didn’t know LeBron had fake hair… LeBron has been losing his hair since his second year in the league. Head Units (men’s hair weaves have become more popular as of late. A few years back we all remember when Carlos Boozer died his entire bald head black and thought everyone would this it was actual hair… This is no different, in today’s society we are all aware of these trends and if they help you feel good to play good then go ahead.  I’m not here to talk about how LeBron is going bald, but I am here to laugh with him about the blooper. Take a look at the clip below and lets all laugh “WITH” LeBron about this blooper. Once we are done laugh let’s give this man Anthony “AD” Davis the friend of the year award… Homies don’t left homies walk around with their hair falling off. They discreetly point it out … Unless there are cameras everywhere with millions watching. All and LeBron ended the game with 32 points. 7 Reb, 10 assist in 31 mins… To LeBron I say, with these kinds of stats I say let the hair keep falling.

6.James “The Beard” Harden smacked himself in the face with the basketball in frustration leaving Josh Hart looking concerned and confused.

Not much to say about this one. Harden came down court and Josh Hart played some solid defense on him. In frustration James slammed the ball on the ground, missed catching it and smacked himself right in the beard. Some say it’s Karma, but Josh Hart looked legitimately worried and confused. Please enjoy the clip below. TO James, it’s just a game man. Your beard has done so much for you. It has given you a different power and I am disappointed in the way you treated it in this moment. C’mon man, let’s get it together so you, Russ and your beard can make run for the ship

7.Dwight Howard “Grabs” Georges Niangs butt…We all remember the Dwight stories from Washington …

Not many words for this one either… JUST A BIG L.O.L! This man Dwight Howard has been through somethings after being known as superman and dominating with the Orlando Magic to grabbing booty… Knowing the history, Howard was allegedly outed last year at the same time he suffered a “Butt” injury. Now what Dwight chooses to do is his business and it is not our place to judge, BUT … Regardless of what you choose to do with your personal life you can’t be out here grabbing booties all willy-nilly. I’ll let you all be the judge of if this was intentional or not, but C’mon Dwight. Take a look at the video clip below. Speaking to Dwight, man you got to get back to your old self. I’m not sure why you fell off but get back to the old you. Don’t let anyone judge you based on your personal life, do you. You still have the skill set to be as great as you once were; you just need to regain the confidence… Also, go easy on the booty grabs… regardless of who booty, I don’t think many people like random squeezes…

8.Steph Curry Breaks his hand leaving the Warriors in a bad situation.

The Warriors are in trouble as they have just lost Steph “CHEF” Curry to a broken hand. The Warriors are a different team from a year ago losing KD to the Nets and Klay Thompson to injury. Andre Igudola was traded and Sea Livingston retired. Currently the best player on the team is D’Angelo “DLO” Russel. With the addition of Russel the warriors to have a chance to float rather than sink, but with Curry out the picture the odds look very bad. Dlo is a bad boy, but he cannot carry this team back to the championship himself. To be honest the NBA season is long and when Curry comes back they still do not have enough to get them over the Lakers, Clippers, or Rockets… Steph, take your time coming back. I know it’s a broken hand, I’ve had that myself and it’s not the end of the world, but the team isn’t going anywhere. No rush required.

9.Karl Anthony Towns and Joel Embid get into a physical altercation.

On Oct. 30th Joel Embid and Karl “KAT” Anthony Towns got into a physical altercation during the game that left them both ejected. The real story is not KAT and Embid fighting but Ben Simmons attempting to break up the fight. If this was wrestling Simmons would get the point for the takedown, but be penalized for the rear naked choke hold. Moving to the WWE, Simmons would have received a bonus and won the title belt. I am not sure how his attempt to settle things turned into a choke hold but I could be missing an obvious answer. Maybe Simmons was not trying to break up the fight, but actually join in. Never the less it was pretty entertaining. Please check the clip again below. Speaking to Embid,… Man you always starting some stuff, KAT proved he is not a push over. You all will be alright going forward. Keep Playing hard and striving to be better. To Ben Simmons, man I know I told you to keep working earlier in the post, but you might need to consider the WWE as a backup. Judging by your moves I can tell you are very familiar and you could have another career if your 3 point shot doesn’t develop throughout the season.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Enjoy you Halloween with a few Trick or Treaters and some NBA games.
