Song of the Day: A Message to You Rudy

Happy Friday folks! Being that Garett went back in the video game soundtrack nostalgia vault on Wednesday with his 2006 NCAA Baseball selection…I thought I would keep that vibe alive by going back to one of my favorite games, Major League Baseball 2k7. The soundtrack is full of amazing and unique songs that have a great blend. It was always exciting to turn on the Xbox or PlayStation…pop the game in and anticipate what songs would be on it. This is truly a thrill that has been lost in time. I will attach a great playlist that someone has put together on YouTube…but the one song I want everyone to hear is “A Message to You Rudy” by The Specials. This one is super catchy and I know I was always humming and singing along to this one while I was creating an unstoppable franchise. Dandy Livingstone was the first to release it in 1967 and he has a few great songs that were re-produced by other artists. Elvis Costello produced this album for The Specials and it was released in the Netherlands first, another interesting fact is that The Specials were a British ska band…it has some fusions of reggae, Jamaican R&B and jazz in it. I hope you enjoy this blast from the past and let us know what your favorite video game soundtracks are! Have a great weekend!
