WrestleMania 39 Night 2 Predictions

Night 1 is in the books and Night 2 kicks off tonight. Last night, we saw some really good matches, storybook finishes, and a lot of good entertainment. In my opinion, Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley had the match of the night and you could say they lived up to the hype of their last match. They are two of the best wrestlers in the world. KO and Sami winning the titles was probably moment of the night. You could just tell how much winning the tag belts meant to them. The Mysterio father/son match was perhaps the best story, Trish and Lita haven’t missed a beat since the 90s and Logan Paul and Rollins had a really good match. Oh yeah, Pat McAfee also had a surprise match against The Miz. It was a fun night and I think we have potential to top it tonight.

Tonight, we have 6 announced matches and I think they all have really good potential to be special. The order is unknown, but we know that Cody vs. Roman is going on last and what a match to end the show. Wrestling has more than one royal family and Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are proving that. We are also going to see a Hell in a Cell match and I hope the PPV is a thing of the past, because we need the Cell match to be special again. It has been overdone over the last 10-15 years. I’m excited for tonight and hopefully it lives up to everyone’s expectations. Here are my picks for tonight.

*Predicted winners are bolded

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match

Brock Lesnar vs. Omos

I can't get a good reading on how I think this will go. I think it is a toss-up personally. Lesnar is currently favored, but it is a bigger favoring than I was expecting. He currently sits at -300 and Omos is currently +200. Omos got the better of Brock on Monday night and that isn't always a good indication of how things will go, but people are acting like this may be Lesnar’s final match of his career as odd as it would be. It wouldn't surprise me a bit for him just to quietly leave and never be seen or heard from again. I think that is the way he would want it This is a good old-fashioned spectacle match that WrestleMania has every year or so. It should be fun.

WWE

-       Women’s WrestleMania Showcase Fatal Four Tag Team Match

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya and Shotzi vs. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler vs. Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville

Just like the men’s match, this isn't a match for anything other than bragging rights, so the winner of the match doesn’t really win anything. Potentially a shot at the tag belts in the future, but nothing at the moment. Ronda and Shayna are favored here, and they are definitely the team that stands out among the rest, but I think they will lose. I just have a feeling about it. Liv and Raquel seem to be the next best option. At +300 I think Liv and Raquel are a sneaky, great bet. Ronda and Shayna are at -2000 currently and I personally think that is in the territory of too dangerous to bet, especially in a match like this where anything can happen. Chelsea and Sonya are at +1200 and Natalya and Shotzi are +1000, so odds have shifted around quite a bit since yesterday. I have the least expectations for this match among both nights, because it is just another thrown together contest with no expectation other than a filler.

WWE

-       Men’s Hell in a Cell Match

Edge vs. “The Demon” Finn Bálor

I didn’t think the Demon would be brought back out with the Judgement Day version of Finn Bálor, but here we are. It should be a great piece of wrestling in this contest. Edge is at the top of his game and Finn Bálor will get a shot to take down a legend inside the cell. The Demon entrance is always special and especially at WrestleMania. Odds are dead locked at -120 for both competitors, so flip a coin if you aren't too familiar with wrestling, but as a wrestling connoisseur, I am going to make an educated guess and say that Balor wins. It is a rarity that The Demon version of Finn Bálor will take an L. I’m not saying impossible, but it is very rare. The Demon lost his last match, so if he loses again, I would say the gimmick loses its luster. If Edge wins, he gains absolutely nothing. I’ll outweigh the potential gains here and rule in favor of Bálor.

WWE

-       Men’s Triple Threat: Intercontinental Championship

Gunther (C) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus

This is the match that I had circled in my head as the best match of WrestleMania for both nights. I think these fellas are going to put on another banger. Gunther is taking the belt into WrestleMania and he has held the IC gold for 290 days, which happens to be the longest reign since The Honky Tonk Man’s historic 414-day tenure as champ in 1987-88. Gunther is actually favored to retain here, and I think if I have to take a guess, I would say he will successfully retain. However, I could see this match going to any of the 3 competitors in the ring. If not Gunther, I think it will end up being Sheamus. Sheamus has mentioned numerous times that the IC belt is the only gold that he hasn’t held in the WWE, which is incredible if you think about it. Also, I could see McIntyre holding the gold for a little while Whatever the result is, I’m fired up about this match. It is going to be a hard-hitting, aggressive match and LA is going to be on fire for it.

WWE

-       Women’s Singles Match: RAW Women’s Championship

Bianca Belair (C) vs. Asuka

A big thing that WWE likes to highlight is people getting their “WrestleMania moment”, Asuka hasn’t had one yet. Asuka has put together a wonderful career and she is honestly one of the more overlooked women on the roster. If I had my pick of as to who is the best women’s wrestler in the world, Asuka is at the top. She can go! She deserves her WrestleMania moment tonight and I would be a little surprised if she doesn’t get it. Asuka is slightly favored at -130 over Bianca’s -110. Bianca has proven herself as a great champion and she can look back and be completely satisfied with a 365-day title reign after defeating Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38 last year. Also, if we are counting WrestleMania moments, Belair has already had two. It is Asuka’s time to shine and I hope she gets the gold tonight.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match: Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

Roman Reigns (C) vs. Cody Rhodes

If you would’ve told me 2 years ago that Cody Rhodes is going to main event WrestleMania and likely take down Roman Reigns for both of the belts, I would say you are insane. The year is 2023, the date is April 2ndand the location is Inglewood, California and Cody Rhodes is favored to take down The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 39. Odds have shifted quite a bit over the last few days, but Cody now sits at -800 to take down Roman. I know all of those Roman haters will rejoice if he goes down tonight. I have been back and forth on this match for quite a while, because I know how WWE does sometimes. They will make you believe something will happen and pull the rug out from all of us. That isn't a bad thing always though. This is Cody’s time to be at the top of the mountain. I always thought that Cody would be the first of the big names to leave AEW because he had unfinished business. He had a good reign as IC champion, but that wasn’t going to cut it. He wanted to prove that he could stand at the top of the mountain and be the face of the WWE and he has proven that he can do it. Without a doubt, he can do it. Roman Reigns had the best tenure as champion in company history, if he doesn’t drop the belts tonight, then who will take him down? There is nobody left. Cody is the one to do it. If Roman does retain, they run the risk of Roman’s act becoming stale. You don’t want to do that at this point. Cody is the guy to take Roman down. Cody has done the work and it is going to be his moment.
