Elimination Chamber (2023) Predictions

WWE

This show snuck up on me. I thought it was going to be next week, but here it is. Coming off of the biggest football game of the year, we lead into the most brutal structure in the WWE. The Elimination Chamber. We don’t have any big title on the line inside the chamber, but the matches should be very good. Only 5 on the card at the moment, but the chamber matches will take up a good chunk of time. Also, the Roman Reigns match should be a time killer too. I’m excited for the show and I’m excited to break it down for you. Let’s dive in.

*Predicted Winners are Bolded

WWE

-       Mixed Tag Team Match

Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. Rhea Ripley and Finn Bálor

Edge and Beth are favored, and I fully expected that, but I don’t think they will win. It doesn’t really make sense for them to win. Let me rephrase that, it doesn’t make sense for Beth to win. Rhea was the Royal Rumble winner and she is going to head into WrestleMania 39 facing Charlotte Flair. She isn't going to take an L heading into the biggest match of her career. It wouldn't make sense. Also, I expect Rey Mysterio to be involved somehow, but that may come after today. The gears have to start turning for that feud with his son at WrestleMania at some point, but I don’t know if they will kickstart it tonight. If you’re in a legal gambling state, hammer that underdog +150 all day long with Rhea and Finn.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match

Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley

It feels weird that Brock and Bobby are somehow lost in the shuffle on a 5-match card, but that is the case. I think fans are really interested, but I don’t know where this feud will go after tonight. Will they continue? I don’t think so, but who knows. Anything can happen. Brock is a slight favorite over Lashley and I think Brock will win, but I’m not completely sold on that. Bobby doesn’t have a “clean” win over him, so they may go that route, but who knows. It could go either way.

WWE

-       Women’s Elimination Chamber Match: Number One Contender for RAW Women’s Championship Match at WrestleMania 39

Asuka vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Liv Morgan vs. Carmella vs. Nikki Cross vs. Natalya

This is a two-woman contest, let’s not kid ourselves. This match should be pretty good, but it will either be Asuka or Raquel Rodriguez winning. I don’t think Raquel is quite ready for the opportunity yet, so Asuka it shall be. Asuka is in Kana mode and I think she will be a different kind of animal in the confines of the chamber. Asuka is an astounding, -1250 favorite. That is crazy considering there are 5 other women in the match. Raquel is 4/1 and she is honestly the only other women that will win. Well, let me say, she is the only other woman in that match that would make sense to win.

WWE

-       Men’s Elimination Chamber Match: United States Championship

Austin Theory (C) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed vs. Montez Ford vs. Damian Priest vs. Johnny Gargano

As opposed to the women’s match, they could go a number of ways with this one. Seth Rollins seems to be heading towards a match with Logan Paul at WrestleMania, Damian Priest is somehow going to be involved with Edge and company, Gargano and Reed seem like match fillers to me, but they may have something cooked up for them. I’m not really sure about Montez Ford or Angelo Dawkins at WrestleMania, but I’m sure they will have something planned for them. Austin Theory is the favorite in this match and he has held the US Championship for 83 days at this point. These kinds of matches usually signal a title change, but Vegas isn't falling for it and neither am I. I think Theory will move on to WrestleMania as the US Champ and will take on the ultimate US Champ, John Cena at WrestleMania. There has been no real indication of that happening, but they have left easter eggs for us in the past of a potential big match for the two. If it isn't Theory, I think Rollins will win it back and it will make that match with Logan Paul a little more meaningful. We’ll see, but I think we get a successful title defense and Theory vs. Cena at Mania.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match: Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

Roman Reigns (C) vs. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn is more over now than he ever has been and somehow, they have made us believe that he has a real shot to take down the 900+ day reign of Roman. With that being said, I’ll believe it when I see it. We know that Cody Rhodes is facing whoever wins this match or shall I say, whoever enters WrestleMania as champion. Things can happen between now and then, but I don’t think Roman drops the belt tonight. The crowd will be on Sami’s side in Montreal, he has more momentum now than he has ever had, or will ever have, and the crowd will just be let down when Roman walks away with the belts. Roman’s heat will be nuclear, and Cody Rhodes will be the ultimate good guy heading into their match.

A lot of people are anointing this storyline as the greatest that the WWE has ever told, and I really can’t disagree. I can't think of one storyline that has had so many layers and depth and detail. It is really phenomenal what they have turned this into. Sami Zayn isn't the guy to take Roman Reigns down, but in a sense, he is precisely the guy to take him down. He was always the cog in the wheel and even if he loses tonight, he exposed Roman’s weaknesses and slowly dismantled The Bloodline. He is the guy to bring the supergroup down, but tonight, he will be the ultimate sacrifice. He will likely put up a big fight and it will seem like he has a shot, but will ultimately lose. His loss will be a sacrifice for Cody Rhodes and Cody will gain tremendous momentum going into the match with Roman at WrestleMania 39. This will be must-watch for WWE fans and I’m excited to see where it goes from here.
