Song of the Day: Now and Then

For today’s featured song we have new music from an up and coming group out of Liverpool, England. They are known as The Beatles. Yes, those Beatles. This song has been 46 years in the making and the final product was released just a couple days ago. The song was originally written by John Lennon in 1977 and the only audio of him was a solo piano demo in which he recorded on a couple cassette tapes. Lennon died in 1980, so this song was an unfinished project. Until 1994, when the ball got rolling on it’s production. Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison teamed up to complete the song in 1995 after Yoko Ono gave McCartney the tapes of the demo just a year earlier. They never completed it because the audio of the tape was just not of good quality or at least up to their specs. Ringo and Paul decided to revisit it last year and they added some lyrics and finished the song. All of the Beatles have part in the new concoction and I think it is pretty cool that this song took such a journey to be made. It is 2023, almost 2024 and The Beatles are still making hit records. It is pretty incredible. This is dubbed as ‘The Last Beatles Song’, so it doesn’t sound like they have any more hidden tapes of new music. I hope you enjoy the song and music video. I think it is pretty cool. I will also attach the short film that they made about it below.
