NFL Top 10 Power Ranking (After Week 4)

AP

While some of the guys are out of town, I will step in and continue the NFL Power Rankings. The season is almost a quarter of the way over and it is rolling by fast. The Top 10 teams in the league will always be changing and it will be interesting to see where these thriving teams will end up. I don’t to do a lengthy intro here, so let’s dive. in.

10: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)

It appears that this week’s rankings are going to be pretty straight forward. Exactly 10 teams have 3 wins or more and the ones below that mark aren’t really deserving of a Top 10 this week. The Bucs have been much better than advertised to start the season. Granted, they haven’t exactly had the 4 toughest opponents. The Eagles were their only tough matchup and they lost handily. Their defense is making them relevant. We’ll see where this team ends up, but for now, the Bucs are Top 10.

9: Seattle Seahawks (3-1)

Seattle’s ceiling is probably 8th this week. They had a big win last night against the Giants, but let’s face it, They’re the Giants. Seattle’s offense looks stout again, but there has to a slight bit of concern for Geno Smith’s knee moving forward. Luckily, they have a bye week coming up this week.

8: Baltimore Ravens (3-1)

The Ravens always fly under the radar and this season is no different. They have quietly solid this season. I’m still not ready to rank them any higher though. They had a bad OT loss to the Colts and even though they routed the Browns in Week 4, they were up against a rookie backup QB that looked like he belonged on a HS field rather than the NFL. The Ravens will be a tough team this season, but for now, they are 8th best.

7: Miami Dolphins (3-1)

I may be under ranking them this week, but they got destroyed on Sunday or should I say humbled? The Dolphins will be good, but their defense is a concern. It is possible that the Dolphins will be in and out of the Top 5 all season long, because their offense is incredible, but after a 4 TD loss to the Bills, they’re on the outside looking in. They should have a good week against the Giants in the upcoming week.

6: Detroit Lions (3-1)

The Lions are for real, or at least they may be. Detroit had a big win over their rival Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. The Lions have had a moderately tough schedule and their only loss is against the Seahawks in a shootout game. The Lions could be contenders, hopefully they stay in the Top 10 all season long.

5: Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)

Aside from the Bears game, the Chiefs have been pretty mediocre this season. Their defense has been really good, but their tough games haven’t happened yet. The only tough game was the opening contest agains the Lions. You could throw the Jags game in there too, but the Chiefs aren’t looking like themselves in the start of the season. Do I think this will change? Absolutely. They will be stout by the end of the season.

4: Dallas Cowboys (3-1)

The Cowboys have terrorized opposing offenses every week. Sure, their Week 3 loss to the Cardinals was a bit embarrassing, but the Cardinals appear to be better than advertised. They have run through every other team this season. Their wins are at an average deficit of 32 points per game. That is insane.

3: Buffalo Bills (3-1)

The Bills probably had the best win of the week against the Dolphins on Sunday. They took down the high-octane offense and humble them, 48-20. If Josh Allen didn’t play like an idiot in Week 1, then they would likely be 4-0. Like the Cowboys, they have demolished everyone in their paths this season. The Bills appear to be the team to beat in the AFC.

2: Philadelphia Eagles (4-0)

In most games, the Eagles haven’t made it look pretty, but they have gotten the job done. They have struggled defensively to start the year, but I think they will fix those issues by the end of the season. I dont think they have played like the 2nd best team in the NFL, but I can’t really not ranking them second. They face the Rams this week and it could be another tough contest for them.

1: San Francisco 49ers (4-0)

The Niners have been the absolute best team this season. No doubt about it. Christian McCaffrey is playing like the best player in football and the defense has been awesome. They will face the Cowboys this week and it should be a great match. We’ll see if they still are at the top of the ranking next week.
