Song of the Day: It's Been a Long, Long Time

I’m stepping back to 1945 for the featured song today. Today’s feature will be the first time that guitar legend Les Paul has made an appearance on our website. Les doesn’t sing on this track, but the voice you hear is that of legendary crooner, Bing Crosby. This was the first song ever credited to Les Paul and the song climbed all the way to number 1. The war was over, times were returning to normal and this comforting song was being played on radios everywhere. They weren't the original artists of the song, but it was released the same week and obviously the one with Bing Crosby is just going to sell more naturally. On a different note, just under 3 years after the release of the song, Les Paul was in a horrible car accident that practically shattered his arm and would no longer have mobility in his elbow. So, his options were to either amputate it or have a doctor set his arm in a permanent place. He chose the latter and continued to play guitar. The guitar world would’ve likely never been the same if he didn’t keep his arm.
