Charlotte FC Report: Week 10, 2022

Charlotte Observer

I can’t believe we’re already 10 weeks into the MLS season, but here we are and honestly, Charlotte is in a better place than I expected. Last week, Charlotte picked up their first draw in club history against the Colorado Rapids. Neither team picked up a goal. You ideally want a win each time you step onto the field, but they shouldn’t scoff at a draw here. The Rapids are a good home team and they managed to keep them from scoring. Hopefully we start seeing Charlotte getting wins on the road, but I like the draw here. Charlotte was the more aggressive team last week and they held the majority of the possession time, so you could argue that Charlotte played a better game, but obviously there’s nothing to prove that. This week will be different. They’re playing one more road match and it’s a tough one.

MLS

Tonight, Charlotte will take on Orlando City SC. Orlando is currently sitting 3rd in the East and have had a good start. Orlando really doesn’t do anything exceptionally well, but they’re a well-rounded team. They have a lot of players that can score at any time and play stiff defense. Alexandre Pato, Ercan Kara, and Junior Urso all have a share of the most goals on the Orlando club. They’re all sitting at two goals each. This will be the last road meeting for a while for Charlotte and it would be great to see them pick up a win or draw against a good team on the road before their big homestretch.

MLS

Much like last week, this will be another prove-it opportunity for Charlotte. They need to prove to themselves that they can pick up a road win or at least look competitive when they’re away from home. They have done a great job of being aggressive in the right situations and hopefully that will work in their favor tonight. Orlando likes to mount an aggressive attack, so that will be something to look for in the matchup. Like I said earlier, a win is ideal, but Charlotte should at least look for another draw here. They need to keep their heads above water and look forward to the homestretch coming up. If they can win or draw here, you can’t ask for more.
