WrestleMania 38 (Night 2) Predictions

WWE

All I can say is, WOW! I don’t think WrestleMania could've gotten off to a better start last night. Night one of WrestleMania 38 will be one for the history books and it will certainly be unforgettable. As i’m writing this the next day, I’m still in shock with everything that happened. I can’t remember the last time a WWE show has gotten me this fired up. What a night and we’re not done. I don’t see how they can top what happened last night, but i’m anxious to find out. Last night we saw 8 great matches. The two women’s matches were phenomenal, Cody Rhodes returned to the “dark side”, and Stone Cold Steve Austin closed the show in an actual match. The man hasn’t been in the ring in 19 years and looked like he barely missed a beat. What an incredible night, but it ain’t over yet.

*Predicted Winners are bolded.

WWE

-       Men’s Triple Threat Tag Tea Match: RAW Tag Team Championship

RK-Bro (C) vs. The Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy

I don’t know what match will kick off night 2, but I think this is a good candidate. RK-Bro has made the tag team division relevant heading into WrestleMania and this should be a fun match. Each of these teams have held the RAW tag belts, so it wouldn’t be a case of the new team getting a big moment winning the belts for the first time, but two of these teams could get their big WrestleMania moment. Odds are siding with the champs to retain here, but considering this is WrestleMania, they like to swap belts. I think The Street Profits get the belts here and get their WrestleMania moment. I also believe that the Triple Threat is a good moment to allow for an anything can happen scenario.

WWE

-       Anything Goes Match

Sami Zayn vs. Johnny Knoxville

For a moment there, I was under the impression that Sami Zayn was going to take the IC belt into his feud with Knoxville at WrestleMania and I so glad that wasn’t the case. To be fair though, where is the IC title this weekend? It’s a shame that the IC and US belts are being defended, but never mind that. A no-DQ match with a performer who has been made out to be a joke and a glorified stuntman. It should be interesting. In the grand scheme of things, this match doesn’t matter. With that being said, Knoxville will likely win.

WWE

-       Women’s Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Queen Zelina and Carmella (C) vs. Natalya and Shayna Baszler vs. Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley vs. Sasha Banks and Naomi

This is definitely the weakest match of the whole weekend. Anytime you bring in more than 3 teams/opponents into a WrestleMania match, there isn’t a story good enough to tell. This is 100% the case here. Nobody is interested in this match and I’m not expecting it to be a great match. 3 of these teams have been created within the last month. They really should just get rid of these belts because they clearly don’t care about them. They rarely are defended and if they are, they’re not featured prominently enough to matter. Banks and Naomi are favored, and they could win, but who cares? I couldn’t care less about this match.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match

Pat McAfee vs. Austin Theory

This is an interesting matchup. Austin Theory is the future of the WWE and Pat McAfee is a really good opponent for him. McAfee isn’t known for his in-ring prowess, but he can go. With that being said, this match should be used to elevate Theory. The odds are straight up. There isn’t one performer favored over the other and that makes it even more interesting. Both guys are entertaining, and it will should be a good match.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos

A human fighting machine vs. the giant. This will be a good pairing for both superstars. Omos has demolished everyone, but this will be his toughest competition to date. Omos is favored slightly, but I think Lashley will win. Lashley will make him look great though. I can’t imagine this match last too long, but they will make the most of it. It’s a toss-up, but I think Lashley gets the win. I don’t think Omos loses much here with a loss to someone like Lashley.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match

Edge vs. AJ Styles

Edge’s heel turn has been marvelous. It’s almost a shame that there isn’t a belt attached to this feud. Not that it needs one, but I’m expecting this to steal the show. Both superstars are in the prime of their careers and I think they will put on a show. Edge is slightly favored, but it’s honestly close enough to be considered a toss-up. I think they will go with AJ Styles here. They will likely go face over heel and AJ Styles is simply on TV more, so they want him to look good for future feuds. Also, I believe he has one more really good run left in him. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m excited about this match

WWE

-       Men’s Winner Take All Title Unification Match: WWE and Universal Championship

Roman Reigns (C) vs. Brock Lesnar (C)

The main event of all main events. The Tribal Chief vs. The Beast. Babyface Brock Lesnar vs. Heel Roman Reigns. It’s for all the marbles and the feud is interesting as it can be, but I think a lot of people’s hype has been diminished due to the fact that we’ve seen these two face each other so much. Odds are in favor of Roman Reigns and I would be a little surprised if Lesnar wins here. It wouldn’t be a total shock, but I don’t expect it to happen. I think it will be a hard-hitting bout between two of the best in this era. It should be great.
