AEW Revolution (2022) Predictions

AEW

Revolution is here and we’re in for a lot of great action. It is going to be a long, long PPV tonight and I wish it were on a Saturday, but I’m not going to complain too much. We’re going to have a great show. All of the title will be on the line except the TNT Championship, but the TNT Champion will be on the show. I’ll do my best to predict each match and I’ll give you odds courtesy of BetOnline. I’m not going to waste any more time, let’s dive in.

*Predicted winners are bolded

-       Men’s Singles Match

AEW

Hook vs. QT Marshall

We will have 3 Buy-In matches before tonight’s main card and the preshow is going to be a good showing. Hook will get his first PPV action tonight against QT Marshall and I can’t see Hook losing to him. Hook has -3000 odds and that is possibly the highest odds I have seen for an AEW PPV. It should be a dominant showing for the up and comer.

-       Women’s Singles Match

AEW

Kris Statlander vs. Leyla Hirsch

This is essentially a toss-up, but Statlander is slightly favored. Hirsch has been a great run as of late and I think she has found her place in the AEW Women’s division, but Statlander is clearly going to be pushed more. Statlander is favored at -165 and I think she will win. I don’t really have an extensive reason for that belief, but I’ll outweigh the experience of Statlander in AEW over Hirsch’s. Either result wouldn’t surprise me.

-       Men’s 6-Man Tag Team Match

AEW

House of Black vs. Death Triangle

We’re seeing a lot of 6-Man tag matches in AEW, so it would surprise me if we don’t get at trios tag title in the near future. This is honestly a matchup that could’ve been in the main show, but fans are going to get to see it for free tonight. Rey Fenix is still on the mend, but Pac and Penta Oscuro added an honorary member to the Death Triangle and I think it will be a very natural addition. Erick Redbeard, formerly known as Erick Rowan, will be helping out Penta and Pac and the match should be solid. The House of Black is favored at -300, but I think it could go either way. I’ll take HOB, but I’m not fully convinced they’ll win.

-       Men’s Singles Match

AEW

Chris Jericho vs. Eddie Kingston

This is a unique math. Eddie Kingston is the favored underdog. I know that makes perfect sense, but it’s true. In the story, Kingston is painted as the underdog, but is favored at -400. This will likely be a simple torch passing from Jericho and this is a great feud for Kingston. They have had great promo segments and both wrestlers are beloved from the crowd. It should be an interesting match, but I can’t really see a scenario where Jericho would win here. It wouldn’t help him in the slightest, but it would mean a lot for Kingston to get a PPV against the inaugural AEW Champion.

-       Men’s 6-Man Tornado Tag Team Match

AEW

Sting, Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara vs. AHFO

This will be a fun match, but it is definitely a huge mismatch. I realize that Andrade is with HFO, but that will not be enough to fend off Sting, Darby, and Guevara. I think it is surprising that Sting, Allin, and Guevara are only -400. Every time we see Sting in a match, it is truly a remarkable thing. I still can’t believe that he is competing in matches and doing well. There may be a little bit of turmoil between Darby and Sammy, but I don’t think it will be enough to distract them here.

-       Women’s Singles Match: TBS Championship

AEW

Jade Cargill (C) vs. Tay Conti

This will probably be the least exciting match on the card, but I think it has big potential. This will be the first time the TBS gold has been defended on a PPV and the first and only champion has held the belt for 57 days so far. I don’t think Cargill is going to drop the belt any time soon either. Conti is a more than formidable opponent for Cargill, but the only way that Cargill will lose the belt is if something crazy happens. Unless Conti turns heel or Anna Jay somehow turns heel with her, I don’t think Cargill is losing tonight. Unsurprisingly, Cargill is favored at -1500.

-       Men’s Singles Match

AEW

Jon Moxley vs. Bryan Danielson (Draw)

Moxley and Danielson will as big of toss-up as this PPV will see. I can’t give one of these guys the edge over the other. Danielson is somehow slightly favored at -125 to Moxley at -115. I’m pretty sure that non-title PPV matches have a 30-minute time limit, but don’t quote me on that. I think this match with either be a draw or some sort of no contest finish. If they’re serious about teaming these two up, I don’t think they will give one wrestler an advantage here.

-       Men’s Three-Way Tag Team Match: AEW World Tag Team Championship

AEW

Jurassic Express (C) vs. reDRagon vs. The Young Bucks

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are favored here at -150, but I think they will drop the belts tonight. They have held them for 57 days and I realize that AEW likes to give their champs longer reigns, but the tag team belts can easily switch hands. I think the Bucks will become the first 2-time tag champs in AEW history. The Young Bucks are the underdogs at 3/1 and I would feel very confident taking that bet. The Bucks were the foundation of the tag team division and they may very well be in this match to add a little more excitement, but I think they’re there for a reason. The Bucks already have the longest tag reign in AEW history, but I think their next reign could be a short one, due to the high number of contending teams in the division.

-       Face of the Revolution Ladder Match

AEW

Wardlow vs. Keith Lee vs. Christian Cage vs. Orange Cassidy vs. Ricky Starks vs. Powerhouse Hobbs

Ladder matches are always exciting in the sense that anything can happen and what’s even more interesting is the fact that we don’t have a clear-cut favorite. Wardlow and Keith Lee have a share of the favorable odds at +100. I’m a little surprised to see Powerhouse Hobbs so low in the favoring. He’s tied with Christian Cage for the underdog share at 10/1. I don’t think he’ll win, but it is surprising to see him so far down. I think the favor share is correct though. I think it will come down to Wardlow or Keith Lee and I think a lot of people would take Wardlow, but I’ll go with Lee. I think Wardlow will likely feud with MJF really soon, so I don’t think he’ll start a feud with Sammy Guevara. I guess they could prolong the Wardlow turn, but it definitely will be a factor tonight in one way or another.

-       Women’s Singles Match: AEW Women’s World Championship

AEW

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. (C) vs. Thunder Rosa

Odds maker are thinking this will be the end of the Doctor’s reign and I think it will be as well. She has had an incredible 277-day reign so far and if this is the end of it, it has been great. Baker hasn’t had the longest reign, but it certainly has been the most effective. Thunder Rosa has been the thorn in Baker’s side for quite a while and she very well may be her Kryptonite. I think this will be Thunder Rosa’s big moment and I think it will be a hard-fought match. There are reports that Thunder Rosa is injured but will work through the match. If that is true, this could affect the outcome. She has denied it, but I think she will do her best to work through it if she is.

-       Dog Collar Match

AEW

CM Punk vs. MJF

Punk is favored here, and they have done their best to make us think that Punk will get his revenge, but I don’t think it will happen. I think MJF will continue his meteoric rise. This should be a brutal, brutal match and if they do it right, it could go down as one of the most memorable matches in AEW history. If MJF wins, I think he should be on the fast track to the AEW World Championship, but who knows? They could decide to do a lengthy feud with him and Wardlow.  Punk is favored at -280 right now and everything indicates he will win, but I’m not convinced that he will. Give me MJF at +190 all day.

-       Men’s Singles Match: AEW World Championship

AEW

Hangman Adam Page (C) vs. Adam Cole

The Battle of the Adams is likely going to end the show tonight and I think we’ll get a great match here. With so many matches on the card, I don’t think it will go over 30 minutes, but I think it will be a solid 25-minute match. Adam Cole doesn’t really have the momentum to take down the champ, but crazier things have happened in wrestling history. The champ is a heavy favorite at -600 and Cole is the underdog at +350. I don’t think a Cole bet is even worth considering. Page should win, and I think they’ll do a great job of suspending our belief, but it should never be in doubt.
