Song of the Day: The Loco-Motion

Happy Monday everyone, today’s song of the day is actually a cover of a 1962 song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and performed by Little Eva. The song was a hit, soaring to the top spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. 12 years later it was covered by Grand Funk Railroad (today’s song of the day version), and once again found its way to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Just when the song was thought to be an “old hit,” it was covered once again in 1988 by Kylie Minogue and just about hit the top spot again, peaking at #3 on the Billboard Chart in the U.S. It really says a lot about a song’s success that it was one of the biggest hits in three different decades. Rolling Stone magazine even ranked it #359 on their list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.” Which of these three versions do you prefer?
