The Masters DFS Preview

The return to sports normalcy is drawing closer…as we are headed to Augusta National for The Masters. Playing in November was nice and all, but April is better. I have been playing Golf DFS regularly for a couple years and this is one that I always look forward too. Not that I believe you have to be severely research intensive while building the perfect lineup, but the fact that there are so many great options in the field, as truly the best of the best are here. Dustin Johnson is looking to repeat his great performance here in November and is the favorite at 9/1 according to Oddsshark.

One cool thing to note is that every hole is named after a type of tree or shrub. If you are living in the Southeast at the moment, you know that the pollen count is high. I hope these golfers bring their allergy medicine and maybe their ponchos…because there is a chance of rain the first couple days as well. The rain will surely slow down the greens which make distance less of a factor. In looking for golfers…I feel like you have to pick one that is in good form, a solid gainer for Tee-to-Green and Putting. My picks were truly broken down in 3 tiers…I selected 2 from each when making my 6 golfer lineup, so here are my top Tier choices.

Tier 1: Collin Morikawa ($9,600)

I may be a little too excited about this one, but Collin should be priced higher than this. There isn’t a better Iron player than him in the field and he just seems like a future Green Jacket wearer. People likened him to Tiger Woods when he won at The Concession…why not go with him at under $10k. Putting is a big weakness for him, but I hope I can build around that this weekend. At 28/1…look for Morikawa to win in Augusta.

Tier 2: Matthew Fitzpatrick ($8,100)

Here is another one of my favorite golfers…Fitzpatrick is an excellent putter. He also ranks 15th in Tee-to-Green in Strokes Gained and its hard to find a weakness in his game. The last Englishman to win here was Danny Willett in 2016 and this could be the year for another. One thing I like about Fitzpatrick is that he has not finished worse than 11th in his last 4 PGA Tour events. Excellent form and 50/1 odds make him a great choice.

Tier 3: Brian Harman ($6,800)

Being from Savannah, GA and playing at UGA should mean something here right? I am hoping that the Southeast influence brings Brian Harman luck in getting the Green Jacket this weekend. I do not have a lot of experience picking the lefty golfer, but I always see his name in the mix. He is another great putter who does not lose strokes anywhere on the course. After an impressive 3rd place finish at The Players…I think Harman lingers at the top of the leaderboard here as well. Harman is at 100/1 this weekend.
