Song of the Day: Breakaway

Happy Monday morning everyone! Today’s song of the day is a mid-2000s classic. It’s Kelly Clarkson’s huge hit, “Breakaway.” It was originally released in 2004 for the Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack album, but after its success, it was re-released on Clarkson’s 2nd studio album, which she would name Breakaway. It was a hit all around the world and reached #6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. And it dominated the U.S. Adult Contemporary chart, where it spent a total of 21 weeks in the top spot, a feat that only Celine Dion and Adele share with her. Also I just learned that the song was co-written by Avril Lavigne and two others with the intention of this going on Lavigne’s debut studio, but it was deemed unsuitable for the album and passed to Clarkson. I hope everyone enjoys their day and gets their week started off on the right note!
