Happy Friday! Today’s song of the day is a rather “un-popular” song and it may be one that very few have heard before. This song has a story that goes along with it…”Blackjack County Chain” is a song that was written in the late 60’s by Red Lane. It was pitched to Charley Pride…he turned it down…then Willie Nelson agreed to sing it. It went as far as #21 on the Hot Country Singles chart. The version I selected today is by Charley Crockett…which to me, seemed like the best version…but I will put up Willie’s version too.
