AEW Power Rankings: Week of September 18th 2020

Hi everyone. Here’s another AEW Power Rankings article coming at you and this week was another solid showing from everyone on Dynamite. There were a lot of great matches and a lot of build up for the anniversary special in a couple weeks. Here are my rankings for the week.

5: Chris Jericho and Jake Hager

Hager and Jericho have teamed up over the last couple of weeks and have been strong. They defeated Private Party this week on Dynamite and looked like a solid unit. It wasn’t the best match on the card, but it was entertaining and it created a a potential feud with Private Party and looks like they will continue their feud with Matt Hardy.

4: Hangman Adam Page

Page had his first match as a singles wrestler in quite some time and he picked up a win against Frankie Kazarian. It was a strong effort by both competitors and Kazarian put up a big fight. This may be a sign that Kazarian could be making a singles run pretty soon, but I guess we’ll see about that coming up. Page and Omega are done for and it will be interesting to see how that all unfolds.

3: FTR

FTR and Jurassic Express opened the show on Wednesday night and it was a great showing. FTR picked up a dirty win The Young Bucks were also involved in the match early on and it appears that they’re making a turn to the dark side. Right now, I see it more as a getting even deal rather than a heel turn, but we’ll see how it ends up.

2: Thunder Rosa

Thunder Rosa made an appearance on Wednesday night and defended her NWA World Women’s Championship. She successfully defended the belt against Ivelisse in a very physical bout. Apparently, there was some real heat in this matchup, but they handled it very well in my opinion. Thunder Rosa is the best thing in the women’s division at the moment and I hope she gets locked in a deal with AEW really soon.

1: Best Friends

Best Friends and Proud and Powerful competed in the main event on Wednesday night and it was an absolute throw down. It was a parking lot brawl and it was a great showing by both teams. Best Friends winning the bout was a right choice in my book and the ending with Sue in her minivan was a great moment to end the show. Orange Cassidy’s involvement in the match was a great touch, but I think they’re going to move away from this feud and I can’t think of a better way to end it.
