AEW Power Rankings: Week of June 10th 2020

Not a lot to say about this week’s Dynamite. It was honestly one of the worst episodes that they have put on, but it wasn’t bad at all and I think that says a lot. They have been promoting Fyter Fest quite a bit and while I think it is interesting that it will be held on TNT, part of me wishes it were an actual PPV. It still should be a fun couple of weeks though. Here are my rankings for the week.

5: Sammy Guevara

Guevara picked up a nice singles win against Colt Cabana this week. We have seen Sammy Guevara in singles competition quite a bit this year and I think he will be a great singles competitor moving forward. This could be a slight move up in the rankings for him, so we may see him get a shot at the TNT Championship in the near future.

4: Penelope Ford and Nyla Rose

Despite only getting the number 4 ranking this week, I thought this was a solid match. Penelope Ford was the star of the match and she picked up a nice pinfall win for her team. She could be pushed into the title picture with this victory, but I guess we’ll find that out soon enough.

3: Best Friends and Orange Cassidy

This victory this week wasn’t a very big one, because Best Friends have been on a roll as of late, but what was more meaningful was the attack that was laid out on the group courtesy of The Inner Circle. Jericho made a point to attack Orange Cassidy and it looks like they will have a match at the upcoming Fyter Fest. I am interested.

2: Cody

After successfully defending his title last week, he did so again this week against Marq Quen of Private Party. It was a really solid match this week and I have no doubts that Marq Quen could be a great singles competitor in the near future. With that being said, I don’t know how long Cody will hold the belt, but in his first two weeks, he had given the belt two great title defenses in its history.

1: FTR

Not that this match was awesome, but it was a momentous match. FTR was the big acquisition of the last few weeks and they had their AEW in-ring debut this week against Triple B. FTR should be utilized a lot better in AEW than they were in WWE and I’m anxious to see where this will lead.
