AEW Power Rankings: Week of March 6th 2020

AEW had a huge week with their PPV and the Dynamite following on Wednesday. They won the ratings battle again and I think they have solidified that win for a while. This week will mostly reflect what happened in the PPV due to the significance of it, but I decided to factor in the show to a lesser extent. Jake “The Snake” Roberts made an appearance this week, which was an intriguing surprise. It looks like he will be managing one of the incoming talents. Also, The Young Bucks made an appearance on Matt Hardy’s YouTube series this week, which is another interesting development. The show was good this week and it will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks. Here are the rankings this week.

-       5: MJF

AEW

AEW

Like him or probably hate him, MJF has arrived into the big picture after beating Cody at Revolution on Saturday. He didn’t have a match on Dynamite this week, but don’t expect him to be on the backburner. He should fit right into a meaningful storyline in the next week or so. Don’t be shocked also if he enters the title picture pretty soon. Also, MJF made waves over the last couple days for flipping off a 7-year old fan at a meet and greet. While I would usually take the side of the kid, what is a 7-year old doing at an AEW meet and greet? AEW is a TV-14 product. just a friendly reminder.

-       4: Jake Hager

After making his in-ring debut at Revolution, Hager also had a match on Dynamite this week. He faced QT Marshall on Dynamite this week and won that matchup. I wondered when we were going to see Hager and I’m glad that is finally happening. I also wonder if this will be normal thing or if we’re only going to see him in a semi-limited capacity. I guess we’ll see, but for now, I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.

-       3: Hangman Page and Kenny Omega

AEW

AEW

They weren’t active on Wednesday, but they put on a great performance against The Young Bucks on Saturday. They retained their titles at Revolution and there clearly is still something going on with Page and the rest of The Elite. I’m interested to see how that unfolds, but I can’t see Page and Omega hanging onto the titles for much longer. I would venture to say that they’ll lose them to The Dark Order once their storyline situation gets worked out.

-       2: Pac

Pac had two huge wins this week. He defeated Orange Cassidy in the most entertaining match at Revolution and he defeated Cassidy’s team partner, Chuck Taylor on Dynamite. It’s safe to say that Pac will be hovering around the number one contender spot for the foreseeable future and for good reason. He is one of the most talented wrestlers in the world and he deserves it. We could see him get the next shot at the new champ’s title.

-       1: Jon Moxley

AEW

AEW

Moxley is the new AEW champ and is clearly “The Guy” for AEW. Moxley is the champ for the people and by the people and he reiterated that on Dynamite this week. He was also scheduled to be in the main event of the show, but was attacked by The Inner Circle. He re-appeared, but was attacked again. Jericho will definitely earn another shot to regain the title, but don’t expect him to earn it back. Moxley should enjoy a good reign and I think the fans of AEW will welcome the Moxley era for the next little bit.
