AEW Power Rankings: Week of March 13th 2020

To say the least, this has been a very weird week, not only in sports, but the whole society. Things are getting cancelled and postponed and I don’t know when things will return to normal, but I hope everyone remains calm and stays as safe as possible. This week, AEW still had a live show this week and the show was another solid two hours. Storylines are still up in the air, but I believe Double or Nothing will be another great show this year. I’m going to try to keep it short this week, so here are my Power Rankings for the week.

-       5: MJF, The Butcher, and The Blade

MJF is hanging onto the momentum that he had from Revolution and this was a great showing from not only him, but The Butcher and The Blade. They defeated Jurassic Express this week and seeing MJF’s tag partners this week seemingly on a weekly basis is a good sign for them moving forward. I guess we’ll see if they get tag title shots in the near future, but I assume that MJF will be an early favorite for an AEW title match.

-       4: Cody

Cody and Ortiz had the opening match of Dynamite this week and it was a great match. Cody picked up the win with his wife and Arn Anderson in his corner. For now, it looks like they are promoting the match at a big Dynamite show in a couple weeks featuring The Elite and The Inner Circle. It should be a fun match coming up, but for now, Cody has momentum, but the rest of The Elite aren’t on the same page.

-       3: Hangman Page and Dustin Rhodes

Weirdly enough, Kenny Omega wasn’t in this match, but attempted to aid Cody and The Bucks in the opening match. Dustin Rhodes was the mystery partner and the make-shift duo beat Jericho and Guevara in the main event. They’ve went further with the rift between Page an Omega than I thought, but so far it has been interesting, so no complaints here.

-       2: Britt Baker/Big Swole

I wasn’t expecting this segment to be as good as it was. Baker is getting more and more confident in speaking and this was really the first we have heard of Big Swole on Dynamite. I didn’t know Big Swole was married to Cedric Alexander, but this is interesting because Britt Baker is currently dating NXT Champ, Adam Cole, Bay-Bay. This should be a fun little feud.

-       1: Death Triangle

When I first saw the Death Triangle pop up on TV, I had no clue who they were, but then I remembered that Pac and Lucha Bros had a gathering in last week’s Dynamite. I really like this team’s potential in the main event picture moving forward. This week, they had the match of the week against Joey Janela and Private Party. I’m interested to see what’s next for this group, but they definitely have momentum moving forward.
