Song of the Day: That Smell

Whiskey bottles and brand new cars Oak tree, you're in my way There's too much coke and too much smoke Look what's going on inside you Ooh, that smell Can't ...

That Smell by Lynyrd Skynyrd. That Smell was released on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Street Survivors album which was released just 3 days before the plane crash that claimed three of the band’s members lives, including frontman Ronnie Van Zant. The inspiration for this song was actually one of the band’s guitarists, Gary Rossington. Rossington’s reckless behavior and overuse of drugs and alcohol nearly led to his death, thus the reference to all the drugs and booze throughout the song. Also a very eerie album cover with the flames on it, considering the tragedy that would happen the band just 3 days later.
