AEW Power Rankings: Week of February 21st 2020

One more week until Revolution and things are getting very interesting. AEW won the ratings battle this week and I think they will for quite a while to be perfectly honest. This week was an opportunity to get a little more build for the PPV, yet solidify some feuds and storylines. Most of the feuds are established for the upcoming PPV, but the card isn’t officially compiled yet though. This week’s show was awesome and here is the Top 5 from this week’s action.

-       5: Jon Moxley

AEW

AEW

Moxley has been the hottest AEW competitor since the start of the new year and he is gaining even more momentum. He would be higher this week, but I felt like his segment was overshadowed by The Inner Circle and the aftermath of their attack. Moxley vs. Jericho was the first announced match for Revolution and I was worried that there was too much time in between, but I’m glad that isn’t the case. Jeff Cobb made his AEW in-ring debut and I thought he did a great job.

-       4: Kris Statlander

I personally think that Kris Statlander has been the most impressive women’s wrestler in AEW with the exception of possibly Riho. Her gimmick is that she is an alien. Yes, an alien, and it is getting over. That is impressive in itself, but she is a wonderful competitor. She defeated Shanna, who I also think is an awesome competitor. Statlander may be next in line for the AEW Women’s Championship, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

-       3: The Young Bucks

I was conflicted about the tag team battle royal in the opening segment of Dynamite, but I thought it turned out great. Everyone was rooting for Matt Jackson to be the last one standing and that was the goal. I felt like this was going to ruin the tag title match that was going on later in the show, but that wasn’t the case. It is pretty apparent that they’re trying to break The Elite up, but I think they’re going about it the right way. Revolution should be fun.

-       2: Kenny Omega and Hangman Page

I personally think that this was the match of the night, but the fact that they’re not number one caliber is pretty crazy. Omega and Page seem like they’re on the path to a split and Revolution will probably be when this happens. They successfully retained their tag titles on Dynamite this week against The Lucha Bros. Like I was just saying, they will face The Young Bucks at Revolution and I’m excited to see this contest, but I think they drop the titles next Saturday.

-       1: Cody

AEW

AEW

What. A. Finish!!! The steel cage match in the main event was shocking not the best match of the night, but it sure as heck was the moment of the night, maybe since the start of AEW. Cody defeated Wardlow, who happened to make his AEW in-ring debut, and to finish the match, Cody did a moonsault from the top of the cage. He didn’t look back and to say it was impressive is an understatement. If Cody didn’t win the crowd over before Wednesday night, he definitely did in that moment. Nobody wants MJF to win and unless something fishy happens, which it could, I can’t see Cody losing at Revolution.
