While we anticipate warmer weather and the upcoming baseball season, let’s take a look at the ten coolest promotions offered by the Charlotte Knights for the 2020 season.  While the team will continue to offer great promotions such as Friday Night Fireworks, Thirsty Thursday, $1 Hot Dog Nights, and several themed nights, I’m going to focus on the giveaways and guest appearances.

10. 2020 Magnet Schedule Giveaway (4/16)

This is Opening Night, or rather, Opening Knight.  All true Knights fans need a schedule to help them plan their trips to the ballpark, and magnet schedules are the best kind.  Just stick them on the refrigerator and they can’t get lost!  This night is also the first Thirsty Thursday as well.

9. Sgt. Slaughter Appearance (5/27)

Meet and greet with WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter.  This is a great promotion for wrestling fans, of which there are quite a bit in the Charlotte area.  It is also Military Appreciation Night and Wine Wednesday.

8. King Meck Bobblehead Giveaway (8/18)

If you go to Knights games, you know the “Royalty Race” that occurs between King Mecklenburg, Queen Charlotte, Jerry the Jester, and Good Knight Charlie between innings.  King Meck will have his own bobblehead day this year, given to the first 2,000 fans entering the park.  But can he win the race on his big day?

7. Brian Baumgartner Appearance (6/7)

This is a very cool one for fans of The Office.  Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgartner) from the show will be present as the Knights take on Malone’s hometown team Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.  Fans will have the chance to meet and greet The Office star and maybe even get his famous chili recipe.

6. Luis Robert Bobblehead Giveaway (5/26)

Everyone likes a bobblehead giveaway and this one features the top-ranked prospect in the Chicago White Sox organization and the 3rd overall ranked prospect across Major League Baseball.  Building on a very good season last year, Robert should spend considerable time in Charlotte this year before ultimately breaking into the big leagues at some point this season.

5. Chauncey Leopardi Appearance (7/30)

This is the third year in a row the Knights are paying tribute to the legendary baseball movie “The Sandlot” by hosting one of its cast members, this time featuring Chauncey Leopardi.  But you know him better as “Squints,” the boy who put the moves on the lifeguard, Wendy Peffercorn.  Come get the chance to meet and greet Squints and also enjoy Thirsty Thursday as well.

4. Racing Themed T-Shirt Giveaway (5/13)

On NASCAR night, you will have the opportunity to get a racing-themed Charlotte Knights t-shirt if you are among the first 2,000 fans.  This should be very cool since Charlotte is the heart of NASCAR country.  You will also have the chance to meet NASCAR champion Kyle Busch.  And don’t forget it will all be on a Wine Wednesday.

3. 80’s Themed T-Shirt Giveaway (8/7)

The night before is 70’s Night and the night after will be 90’s Night, but 80’s Night is the only one with a t-shirt giveaway.  And who doesn’t want a cool, no doubt colorful, 80’s themed Charlotte Knights t-shirt?  Come out to the park and listen to 80’s music all night long and enjoy the post-game Friday Night Fireworks as well.

2. Tim Anderson Bobblehead Giveaway (6/23)

This is the third bobblehead giveaway the Knights will do this season and it will be the biggest one.  Tim Anderson was the 2019 American League batting champion last year for the Knight’s parent club, the Chicago White Sox.  If you are among the first 2,000 fans to enter the park, you will be gifted a bobblehead of the White Sox slugger.  That’s a bobblehead they’ll likely give out in Chicago at some point, and you can get yours right here in Charlotte!

1. Homer T-Shirt Giveaway (4/19)

Everyone loves Homer the Dragon, the friendly and entertaining mascot of the Charlotte Knights.  So, come celebrate his birthday by being one of the first 2,000 fans to enter the park and get your own Homer the Dragon t-shirt.  And if that’s not enough, kids will be able to run the bases after the game.  Make sure you’re there to enjoy an awesome Sunday afternoon!
