AEW Power Rankings: Week of December 24th 2020

We are coming to the end of the yearly Power Rankings and this week will be the last of 2020. It has been a fun year for AEW that has been met with uncertainty and a lot of confusion in the world, but they made the most of it. Last night’s episode of Dynamite was dubbed the Holiday Bash and it aired later than usual, but it was good. Next week, I will reveal the Year-End Power Rankings and show how each performer fared not only in the second half, but for the whole year. For now though, here are the final Power Rankings for 2020.

5: Sting

I debated on putting him on here this week, but he had such a meaningful segment, I felt like I had to. Sting’s appearances have been nothing but impactful since making his AEW debut and this was no different. It could be argued that Team Tax and Darby Allin could have shared this spot with Sting, but it wouldn’t have been as big of a deal. Everyone Sting is on TV, it is money at the moment and i’m interested to see what is next for the legend.

4: Jurassic Express

It feel like it has been a very long time since we have seen the Jurassic Express on Dynamite, so I had to look up the last time they were. Excluding the Diamond Battle Royal, the last time they were on TV was September as a team. They have been featured quite a bit on AEW Dark, so they’re building quite a resume there, but I think they would be a great team to take down The Young Bucks in the future. They defeated Colt Cabana, and 5 and 10 of the Dark Order last night.

3: MJF and Chris Jericho

MJF and Jericho teamed up last night and took on Top Flight. It could be argued that Top Flight was the better team last night, but MJF and Jericho picked up the win. Also, another thing to come out of this segment. It was revealed that Wardlow and Jake Hager will square off next week. There aren’t many powerhouses in AEW and it will be interesting to see these two have a match. Also, it appears that The Inner Circle is crumbling more and more each week.

2: Hikaru Shida

Shida had a squash win last night, but the biggest goal in the match was to feature Abadon and I feel that attempt was successful. The bite spot at the end was similar to one that we saw with Becky Lynch and Shayna Baszler on RAW earlier this year, but this one actually made sense because Abadon is a demon. Abadon may very well have been the main beneficiary of this match and segment, but Shida gets the credit because of the match win.

1: The Young Bucks

The Bucks defended the tag titles in the main event last night against The Acclaimed who have made a splash over the last few weeks. I think we can expect a lengthy tag title reign for The Young Bucks coming up, but who are going to be their next contenders? FTR is ranked as the Number one contenders at the time, but not too far behind are Best Friends and Jurassic Express. I guess we’ll see, but I could see The Bucks holding the titles for over a year to be honest. The Bucks are going to be a big deal in 2021 and they ended this year as the last number one of the yearly Power Rankings.
