You Can’t Always Get What You Want by The Rolling Stones. Released on the 4th of July in 1969 as a single for the band’s upcoming album Let It Bleed, which wasn’t released until December of that year. Despite the song not particularly charting well, it’s still one of the band’s more famous song’s and was even ranked 100th by Rolling Stone magazine’s top 500 songs of all time. I never knew this but apparently John Lennon claimed The Rolling Stones copied a lot of Beatles innovations and it just so happens that this song, which uses a choir for background vocals, came out less than a year after the Beatles introduced Hey Jude, which also used a 36 man orchestra which provided similar back ground vocals. But it shouldn’t really be a surprise, we’ve been told out whole life how revolutionary the Beatles were. But in my opinion they are both great songs, and the choir is about the only similarity.
