In this series I will highlight three things to do for the people in the Charlotte, NC area and anyone who may be visiting our awesome city this weekend.  Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in America with plenty to offer everyone.  So let’s take a look at three things you can do this weekend (Friday, January 10th through Sunday, January 12th):

1. Monster Jam Triple Threat Series (Friday & Saturday)

The Monster Truck series is coming to Charlotte this weekend and will be at the Spectrum Center on Friday and Saturday.  On Friday the gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:00 p.m.  There are two events on Saturday, the first one beginning at 1:00 p.m. (gates open at noon) and the second one at 7:00 p.m. (gates open at 6:00 p.m.)  There will also be speedsters and ATVs, and yes, Grave Digger will be there.

2. Grand Opening of The Studio, Rhythm & Brews Bar (Saturday)

A new bar is opening in Charlotte, at 2433 South Blvd this weekend!  The self-pour bar will officially open its doors for the first time at noon on Saturday.  The grand opening event is free to attend and will feature a dj during the day, a live concert at night, a cornhole tournament, raffle prizes, giveaways, Sega Genesis and PlayStation 4 games, and most importantly, 26 different kinds of beer, wine, prosecco, and kombucha.

3. Ice Skating at Winter Wonderland (Friday-Sunday)

This is an event that is open all week long, and has been since November.  But time is winding down to enjoy Charlotte’s outdoor ice-skating rink as January 20th is its last day of the season.  Located between SouthPark Mall and Symphony Park, skating runs from 3 p.m. until midnight on Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.  Two hours of skating (plus skate rentals) costs $17 and if you bring your own skates you will only have to pay $12 for two hours.  Or if you just want to come and watch other skaters while enjoying the pub or coffee shop it is completely free.  Make sure you don’t miss this unique event before it’s too late because you’ll have to another ten months before it opens again.
