Song of the Day: Rocky Top

Happy Friday to you all! Today’s song of the day is a tribute to the start of the college football season and was released on Christmas Day in 1967. Whenever I think of fight songs…the first one that pops in my head is “Rocky Top”. The University of Tennessee will be playing Georgia State on Saturday, and I am sure if you attend that game, you will hear this tune a time or two. “Rocky Top” is a song about the simpler life in East Tennessee before the commercialization of everyday life. You can hike Rocky Top if you go to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and find Thunderhead Mountain. The hike is part of the Appalachian Trail that runs up from Maine and down to Georgia. I hope the Osborne Brothers get your weekend going and prepare you for the Fall and College Football season!
