The PGA Tour will travel east to Cromwell, Connecticut for the Travelers Championship. Last year’s winner Bubba Watson, looks to repeat after his great last round score of 63 gave him the title. Many star-studded names will be participating like Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, and Phil Mickelson. Gary Woodland will take the week off after his impressive win at the US Open. All of my golfers made the final cut last week, and I was a birdie or two away from winning in the big tourney on DK…so let’s keep rolling!

TPC River Highlands was founded in 1928 as Middletown Golf Club. The par-70 course totals 6,841 yards on all 18 holes. Riddled with lakes, sand bunkers, and the Connecticut River…the golf course rewards the risk-taking golfer. Accuracy is a key component at every event, so of course you want a mix of accurate…yet long-drivers and golfers who birdie at a high rate.

Justin Thomas ($9,800):

A wrist injury kept the former #1 golfer down for around six weeks…but Thomas is bound to re-capture his “top-flight” status. Even though he was cut at the US Open…TPC River Highlands plays into his hand quite well. His birdie or better percentage ranks P1 at 27.08%. I am thinking Thomas will be picked at a lower percentage than his more expensive competitors and I believe he will reward those who choose him.

Paul Casey ($9,500):

Anywhere you look…you will see that Paul Casey is a favorite to win the Travelers Championship. He finished P2 here last year and he blew a 4-shot lead. One of England’s finest finished 21st in the US Open last week. He ranks 3rd in Eagles (Holes Per) at a rate of 1 eagle every 76.5 holes. You have got to love that in your lineup!

Bryson DeChambeau ($9,200):

This course is perfect for the technical player in DeChambeau. With a solid P35 at the US Open, I look for him to keep some momentum going into this event. I personally like DeChambeau better than any of my picks to win the event at 25/1 (oddshark.com). Bryson ranks 9th in birdie average amongst all golfers in the PGA Tour.

Russell Knox ($7,700):

Knox has placed P27 or better in his last 2 PGA events and is a former winner at TPC River Highlands. His win in 2016 is my main reasoning for choosing him this weekend and the fact that I can get a former (relevant) winner at a sub $8K price helps as well. Knox will surely make Scotland proud with a great performance this weekend.

Collin Morikawa ($6,900):

Morikawa came through for me last week at the US Open finishing 35th. With only 2 professional events under his belt…I feel safe riding the Collin train once again. With a price like $6,900, I will keep choosing him in my lineup Who knows…I think he is a potential winner.

Cameron Champ ($6,800):

Champ is the longest driving golfer out there. His recent form is nothing to brag about, but he is a risk taker and I feel pretty good going with the distance that Champ brings to the table. His style is similar to Bubba Watson…and he may surprise some people with a couple good rounds this weekend. If he keeps it in regulation, there may not be a better choice.
