Song of the Day: Nutshell (Plus Aaron Lewis Cover)

"Nutshell" by Alice In Chains, MTV Unplugged Listen to the new album, Rainier Fog: https://aliceinchains.lnk.to/RainierFog On tour this spring and summer.

Keeping with Tuesday’s Song of the Day post of a song along with a cover version by another artist. Today’s song is Nutshell by Alice in Chains. Nutshell is such a good acoustic song and one of the most memorable from the 90’s. It’s incredibly sad and serious song if you actually pay attention to the lyrics. To make things better we have the live version from their MTV Unplugged performance. Arguably one of the best live performances of the 90’s. Now what makes this song so good and so hard to replicate is the vocals from the late, great Layne Staley even though he was a shell of himself by this point in his life. The man is hands down the best singer from the grunge era and one of the best lead singers of all time. I’ve come across a handful of covers on Youtube but the only I’ve found that does the song justice is the cover by Aaron Lewis. The song starts at 3:40 in the video. So enjoy both.
