Song of the Day: Mony Mony

In honor of “The Big Dance” starting today, the song of the day will be one that makes everyone want to dance. It’s none other than Billy Idol’s “Mony Mony,” which reached #7 on the Billboard U.S. Dance Club Songs chart in 1981-82. The song was actually originally by the band Tommy James and the Shondells, released in 1968. In 1981, Billy Idol released a cover which became very popular and was played in dance clubs all across the country. A live version was later released by Billy Idol in 1987 and reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has since been featured in video games, television commercials, various campaigns, and was even parodied by Weird Al Yankovic.
