AEW Power Rankings: Week of November 7th

Dynamite was in our backyard last night and I think I can speak for myself and Randy and say it was the best live event that we have ever been to. The crowd was awesome. The action was awesome and it was awesome to see them promote their first PPV since starting the TV show. I personally feel like all the matches were on point and the storylines building up to Saturday night were more than enough to garner interest from fans. Full Gear is going to be in Baltimore at the show starts at 7:30pm EST. It should be a great show. Here are my Power Rankings in the go-home show.

-      5: Shawn Spears

AEW

AEW

This matchup this week between Spears and Brandon Cutler was quick and to the point. Spears established himself as an upper mid-level to top contender in the match. It wasn’t an awesome match, but it didn’t have to be. Spears appearing as a force to be reckoned with is all that this segment needed and it was successful

-      4: Private Party

Private Party and Dark Order competed in a contest to decide the undetermined team that was going to face SCU and the Lucha Bros at Full Gear. The match was action-packed and putting Private Party in this match was the right move. They will fit nicely with the two other teams on Sunday and may even have a shot at winning the gold. I guess we’ll find out what happens, but they have made a name for themselves since the TV program has started.

-      3: Pac

Pac and Trent kicked the show off and the match was really good. Pac is one of the best performers in the company and that is really saying a lot. He can work a match with anyone and I really don’t think there is a better natural heel in the business. He and Hangman Page are squaring off on Saturday and even with a packed card, the match is still getting attention from fans. Both are seen as title contenders and it should be fun. I don’t think I can forgive him for what he did to my guy Orange Cassidy though.

-      2: The Inner Circle

This feud has dominated the show since its start a month ago and it just keeps getting better and better. Jericho can still work a crowd better than anyone in the business, Guevara is gaining attention as a legitimate performer, Hager is the enforcer that can step into title contention at any moment, and Ortiz and Santana could be considered one of the best teams in a loaded tag team division. The Inner Circle is a force that is difficult to stop and they proved that in the main event match last night. Jericho and Guevara took on Hangman Page and Kenny Omega and although there was outside interference that helped them win, the match was awesome. With that being said, the stuff after the match was even more awesome. If you ever wonder how to promote a PPV, just look at what AEW did last night. It was absolute pandemonium. Jericho obviously has his title match against Cody on Saturday and Ortiz and Santana are facing The Young Bucks, so it should be a busy night for The Inner Circle.

-      1: Cody

Cody was the most talked about thing from last night and therefore I think he should easily be the number one entry this week. He delivered a near flawless promo last night and it honestly could be one of those promos that will go down in history as one of the greats. Cody is on a mission right now in more ways than one and it is awesome to see this transpiring. He won the full support of the crowd last night and I think the fans watching at home are going to make it a point to tune into this match on Saturday. He sold the product as well as anyone could’ve and on Saturday, he will have to back it up. He announced that this will be his last match for the AEW Championship if he loses on Saturday and it should be a super intense battle between two great performers. I am fired up about this match.
