LAST 4 GAMES

-       @ Toronto Raptors: L, 96-132

-       @ Brooklyn Nets: L, 91-101

-       @ Washington Wizards: L, 118-125

-       vs. Chicago Bulls: L, 115-116

It was a really tough week for Charlotte this week as they picked up 4 more losses on the season. To be honest though, it wasn’t a very easy week for them. They played 3 games on the road and the teams they played aren’t terrible teams. It was a jam-packed week and it looks like it will be more of the same this week for the Hornets as well. Hopefully they can pull a 4-game win streak instead of a losing streak this week though, or at least pull together some wins. The road losses last week weren’t close and I can’t really say that the Hornets were ever in any of those games, with the exception of the Wizards game. The game against the Bulls however, was a different story. A few of us from The Sports Chief were at the Bulls game on Saturday and the crowd was electric. The game was back and forth throughout the contest, but they just couldn’t contain Zach Lavine, who ended with 49 points. It was a heartbreaking and disappointing loss, but hopefully the Hornets can recover this week. My MVP for the Hornets in last week’s action was a tough decision, but I think I’ll go with Devonte’ Graham. It looks like he’s gonna get the majority of the weekly MVPs this year judging by the way he is playing this season. This week is going to be possibly the toughest week of the season for the Hornets, but this could also be a spot where they can turn things back around.

NEXT 4 GAMES

-       @ Miami Heat (11-4): Monday, November 25th at 7:30pm

-       vs. Detroit Pistons (5-11): Wednesday, November 27th at 7pm

-       @ Detroit Pistons (5-11): Friday, November 29th at 7pm

-       @ Milwaukee Bucks (13-3): Saturday, November 30th at 8pm

Tonight, the Hornets will have their first meeting with the Miami Heat this season and the Heat are one of the best teams in the East at the moment. They are currently in a three-way tie with the Celtics and Raptors for the 2nd place spot in the conference and they will be looking to continue their success against Charlotte here. The Heat and the Hornets have somewhat of a rivalry recently and it should be a good game regardless, but it will be a tougher go for the Hornets playing on the road. Jimmy Butler is enjoying success in his first year with the team, but I really want to highlight two rookie guards that are tearing it up for the Heat this year. Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn are averaging 14.1 and 16.8 PPG respectively and that is one thing that the Heat didn’t have last year. They had scoring threats last year, but for Heat fans, I’m sure it’s a welcoming sight to have the production not fall off after losing a some vital pieces from last year’s team. It’ll be a tough matchup for the Hornets tonight.

The next team plays the Hornets back-to-back on Wednesday and Friday and it is a team that the Hornets have already seen this year. The Hornets picked up the win against the Pistons a couple weeks ago despite seemingly being outplayed. The Pistons had 61 points off the bench and that will be something to look out for in these two matchups. Detroit has a solid team, but their record isn’t showing it and it looks like they may be rebuilding within the next year as rumors surfaced about Andre Drummond being looked at by the Hornets. We’ll see if anything happens there, but these won’t be easy games for Charlotte on Wednesday and Friday.

The last team that the Hornets play will be the number one team in the East. The Bucks are absolutely no joke. They virtually do everything well and it also helps when you have the reigning MVP leading the way. Giannis Antetokounmpo is basically averaging 30 PPG, 14 RPG, and 6.5 APG this season and he will probably maintain these numbers throughout the year. The big thing with the Bucks is you aren’t going to stop them, but you can slow them down and that is basically the only way to beat them. They play great defense, they shoot well, and they can get to the rim, so it will be tough for Charlotte, but I’m not saying it is an impossible task to win here.
