Do the Buffalo Bills Have the Easiest Schedule of All Time?

The Buffalo Bills are having one of their best seasons they’ve had in quite a while.  Ten games into the season they have a 7-3 record and are 12th in ESPN’s Power Ranking.  I currently have them at 13th in my power ranking.  While Bills Mafia is certainly enjoying their team putting up wins on a consistent basis, I don’t think they are any better than an average team.  I really didn’t want to rank them as high as #13 in my power ranking, but with a 7-3 record they can’t be too low.  If you take a glimpse at their schedule, it is an absolute cakewalk.

I’ll start by throwing some numbers out there.  If you add up the current record of every team on their 16-game schedule (counting divisional opponents twice) it comes out to be a measly 67-93.  That’s not even close to playing a .500 schedule.  Aside from the Patriots, who they play twice, there is only two other teams on their schedule with a winning record.  One of them is the Ravens, who is definitely respectable.  The other one is the Cowboys who are 6-4, but have yet to beat a team with a winning record, so it’s difficult to count them as a formidable opponent.  That actually might be a really good game and will give us a glimpse at which of the two probable playoff teams is the better one.

It definitely hurts the Bill’s schedule that they play in the pathetic AFC East.  So, it’s not their fault they pretty much have four guaranteed wins against the Dolphins and Jets.  But to have the Giants, Bengals, and Broncos also on the schedule is like an automatic gift to the playoffs.  And the Bills should get there.  They currently hold the top wildcard spot by one game and should get a few more victories before season’s end.  So, congratulations to them on taking advantage of the easiest schedule I’ve ever seen.  The table-selling stores in Buffalo certainly appreciate it.
