The TV Episode You Must Watch Every Halloween Season

When you think of Halloween entertainment, scary movies are probably one of the first things that come to mind.  But there are also plenty of very good television series episodes about Halloween you should watch to make Halloween season complete.  Most popular comedy television series throughout tv history have all featured at least one or two Halloween episodes.  And usually most are really good.  But there’s one episode that I make sure to watch every Halloween season, and so should you.

The television episode I’m talking about is from That 70s Show and is titled, Halloween.  It is from the 2nd season and is episode #5 (for when you look it up on Netflix).  I’ve always been a big fan of That 70s Show.  It provides the pure type of comedy that is just hard to get anymore.  The characters are all really great and play really well off each other.  Halloween is the first of several Halloween-featured episodes from the series, but this one is the best.

When the group of 1970s teenagers are hanging out in Eric Foreman’s basement, like they usually do, they try to come up with something fun/scary to do since it’s Halloween.  After some time, they decide their old elementary school might be fun to go to since it just stood as an abandoned building after burning in a fire years prior.  With the plan to tell scary stories in the spooky setting, they headed off to the school.

It didn’t take long, however, for everyone to realize that nothing seemed to scare them anymore.  The scary stories just weren’t doing it and the abandoned school at night wasn’t as scary as they thought it might be.  Just as the high schoolers simply thought they were too old to be scared, someone found their old permanent records that had survived the fire.

Nothing is as scary as ‘real life’ things, and the permanent records were as real as it gets to the teenagers.  They find all sorts of surprises about each other through the records that turned their night upside down.  This episode provides a lot of laughs as secrets are uncovered, Fez dressed as Batman learns about the U.S. tradition of Trick-Or-Treating, and Kelso gives the classic line of “C’mon guys let’s not fight, Halloween is the time for peace on earth and good will towards men.”

It’s only a 21-minute episode, so there will be plenty of time to watch other Halloween episodes and movies as well.  But make sure to give this one a shot if you’ve never seen it before.  And if you have seen it before, watch it again this Halloween because it never gets old.  You’ll learn the deep, dark secrets that the high school gang never wanted to see the light of day.
