On January 25th 1994 in music, 25 years ago to be exact, Alice in Chains released their third studio EP(not album) Jar of Flies. (For those not aware an EP is to short to qualify as an album, this EP is 7 songs to be exact.) Jar of Flies actually went onto to make some history as it became the first EP in music history to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. First in history!! And it wouldn’t be until 10 years later until an artist would be able to do the same, an incredible accomplishment. I’m a pretty big Alice in Chains fan but I guess I wasn’t aware of just how popular they were in the 90’s. Even more impressive is that this EP was written and recorded all in just one week. According to the most reliable source on the internet, Wikipedia, the album was written and recorded between September 7-14 of ‘93. This 7 song EP produced some good songs and one of AIC’s best with Nutshell.

Here’s some songs from Jar of Flies and of course I included the MTV Unplugged version of Nutshell
