The London Raiders

If you didn’t know by know the Oakland Raiders are moving to Las Vegas for the 2020 season. Which is a real shame because the Oakland Raider fan base is one of the most die-hard, entertaining, crazy fan bases in all of the NFL. So since it was announced a few years ago that the Raiders would be moving out of Oakland, they’ve found themselves in a bit of an awkward situation by staying in Oakland for the next couple of years until they leave town. Kind of like a divorce when the couple awkwardly still lives with each other in the same house.

So as it turns out, the city of Oakland isn’t exactly happy about the team leaving the city and rightfully so, and is actually suing the team and the NFL over the move. As a result of being sued the Raiders have rescinded their lease on the lovely Oakland coliseum and now are homeless for the 2019 season. As if the Raiders couldn’t be more of a dumpster fire. Plenty of ideas have been floated about a potential landing spot for the 2019 Raiders season, from AT&T Park which is home of the San Francisco Giants to the old home of the San Diego Chargers to sharing Levi stadium with the 49ers and to last but not least Tottenham stadium in London. I would love to see any of these happen other than sharing Levi stadium because it simply involves the least chaos. The Raiders playing at AT&T park which is a stadium built exclusively for baseball would be pretty interesting and entertaining, mainly to just see the fans sitting in the outfield bleachers. The Raiders playing in San Diego, which was deprived of a team so that the NFL could give LA, would be quite interesting and kind of cruel as well. Let’s tease the city of San Diego one last time with NFL football. And finally the holy grail of ideas, having the Raiders play in London. The idea has been floated a lot lately about a team potentially moving to London but this right here seems like it could actually happen. Can you imagine Jon Gruden, having to play a full season in London, considering he’s talked about how he’s not a fan of traveling to London in the past. Will the team reside in London or just travel there for 8 games that year? What a disaster, what a train wreck, and that is the exact reason I’m hoping for it to  happen. Apparently we will know the answer sooner rather than later with commissioner Goodell wanting a decision by sometime in February. But don’t act like your against the idea, because who doesn’t love 9:30 am NFL games on Sunday morning?
