Half of the year is done with and that means there has been 26 WWE Power Rankings’ since the start of 2019. I probably should’ve done this article last week, but I didn’t get started until the week of January 9th. Ranking superstars based on their weekly impact on the landscape of the WWE has been a fun experience for me. As I take a look back at the last 6 months, I wonder what was going through my mind with some of these rankings, but all in all, I think it was pretty much on par with what the WWE had planned and how well it was received with the viewing audience. For this article, I will rank a midseason Top 10 for the 2019 year by how many times that they appeared in the Top 10. There were 73 different performers (including tag teams and stables) that made the Top 10, so far and 17 different competitors (including team members) that have been number one. Here is my Midseason Top 10.

Before I get to the main portion of the article, here are some superstars that didn’t quite reach the Top 10:

7 Appearances: Sasha Banks, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, Kevin Owens, and Shane McMahon

6 Appearances: Lacey Evans and Finn Bálor

5 Appearances: Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe, Baron Corbin, Lars Sullivan, and Sami Zayn

- 10: Bray Wyatt (8 Appearances, 1 Number One)

This one may be the most puzzling to you guys. How can a superstar that hasn’t performed in the ring on TV since last August possibly be featured in my Power Rankings tenth most of anyone? I think it goes without saying, but the last couple of months have been boring, for lack of a better term. Bray Wyatt and his Firefly Fun House has kept RAW afloat over the last few weeks and it will be interesting to see where this new gimmick goes. It’s difficult to say whether or not this would be the case if he were actually competing, but who’s to say he won’t be still in the Top 10 at the end of this year.

- 9: AJ Styles (9 Appearances, 1 Number One (w/ The Club)

Although he hasn’t been featured a ton since January, he has consistently found himself in the discussion for the Top 10. As far as in-ring ability goes, he is arguably the best in the WWE, so that helps solidify status as a Top 10 performer week in and week out. At the start of the year, Styles was still feuding with then WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan, after he lost the WWE Championship on an episode of SmackDown Live on November 13th, ending a 371-day title reign. Then he had a feud with Randy Orton for a couple of months. With the formation of The Club, I wonder how many more appearance the Phenomenal AJ Styles will rack up for the rest of 2019.

- 8: Bayley (10 Appearances)

Bayley had four of her appearances teaming with Sasha Banks while they were Women’s Tag Team Champions. Sometimes I forget the titles even exist, but since losing their titles, Sasha Banks hasn’t been on TV and Bayley is now the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Since her Money in the Bank win and cash-in on the same night, Bayley has been a huge player for the women’s division. She has updated her persona and she is a more aggressive version of herself. I think her appearances will simply rely on how much longer she remains champion or in the title picture.

- 7: Roman Reigns (11 Appearances, 2 Number Ones (1 w/ The Shield)

I think this would’ve been a totally different story if he didn’t miss the first two months of the year. After his return from Leukemia, he inspired many fans and earned the respect of the whole WWE Universe. I didn’t expect him to be back so soon, but the WWE is in a much better place while he is on the active roster. He is a great role model for children in a PG product, so it will be interesting to see how he fares in an edgier setting. Expect to see more Top 10 appearances from the Big Dog in 2019.

- 6: Charlotte Flair (12 Appearances)

The Queen was featured in the Top 10 mostly in the first 13 weeks for obvious reason. She was the third wheel of the biggest feud of the year involving Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey. After WrestleMania 35, she has only appeared in the Top 10 one time. This isn’t her fault, because she simply hasn’t been featured on TV too much since then. She had an immediate feud with Becky Lynch and won back her SmackDown Women’s Championship, only to lose it in the same day to Bayley at Money in the Bank. WWE is making no secret about the possibility of her breaking her father’s title reign record and I think she will have at least one more title reign by the end of 2019, so stayed tuned.

- 5: Daniel Bryan (12 Appearances)

The New Daniel Bryan made a splash when he introduced his updated persona and he entered the new year as WWE Champion. He held the title for nearly 5 months, before ultimately losing it at WrestleMania. He and Rowan are currently SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but like Charlotte Flair, most of his appearances came from the first quarter of the year. I was never a fan of the new WWE title design, but at least it was something out of the ordinary.

Bryan’s character change is something out of the norm and the WWE needs a guy like him at the moment. I’m not sure how many more appearances he will make, but it all depends on the health and push of he and Rowan.

- 4: Ronda Rousey (13 Appearances, 3 Number Ones)

I don’t expect to see Ronda Rousey back by the end of 2019, but did she ever have a fantastic rookie run in the WWE. She was so huge not only for the WWE, but for all of women’s wrestling. The first 13 weeks were The Road to WrestleMania and she appeared in the Top 10 for every one of those 13 weeks. She hasn’t been on TV since WrestleMania 35 and if she comes back, she will have a great case for an immediate title run after the referee didn’t check to see if her shoulders were down. I really enjoyed her time on WWE programming and I thought she went above and beyond her expectations. I would love to see her back, but I know she has other plans at the moment.

- 3: Seth Rollins (17 Appearances, 3 Number Ones (1 w/The Shield)

At the start of the year, Rollins was still feuding with Dean Ambrose (seems crazy, doesn’t it?) in the Intercontinental Championship picture. He won the Royal Rumble and took down Brock Lesnar in the WrestleMania 35 opener to win the Universal Championship. He still has the title and it doesn’t look like he is going to lose it any time soon. When Roman Reigns was away, Rollins sort of took on the role as the face of the company. They really didn’t have many more options, but I think many fans are taking for granted what Rollins does for the WWE. Lately he has been very vocal about the WWE and defending the honor of the company that he works for. The WWE needs a guy like Rollins who they can count on, even when things aren’t looking as good as they should. Expect Rollins to be in the Top 10 a lot more times throughout the year.

- 2: Kofi Kingston (20 Appearances, 5 Number Ones (1 w/The New Day)

Heading into 2019, if I told you that Kofi Kingston would be WWE Champion and would appear on the WWE Power Rankings 2nd most among all competitors, I would think that is hilarious. Hilarity has become reality and I think it is awesome. As you all know, Kofi Kingston started to gain traction after a big gauntlet match on SmackDown. It was announced prior to that particular show that a member of The New Day would be in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship, because Ali was injured. Kofi lasted over an hour in the match and it started a huge movement. In the Elimination Chamber match, he was the last one eliminated and had a great back-and-forth with Daniel Bryan. This set up more tension between the two and after getting kayfabe screwed over on numerous occasions, Kofi and Bryan finally had the match that everyone wanted at WrestleMania 35. Kofi is still champion, but I’m not sure for how much longer. He has done a great job as champion, but I have a feeling it could come to an end pretty soon. Hopefully that isn’t the case and we see Kofi in the Top 10 many more times.

- 1: Becky Lynch (23 Appearances, 6 Number Ones)

The Man has made her mark on the whole wrestling industry over the last year and she is still going strong. It is insane to think of how far she has come. At the start of the year, she feuded with Asuka, lost in her title rematch, and subsequently won the Royal Rumble. She and Charlotte Flair have great in-ring chemistry, but the match we wanted to see was Becky vs. Ronda. Obviously, Ronda Rousey played a big part in her success, but she dealt with Charlotte mostly, because they wanted to limit her contact with Ronda and that was understandable because they had a match to book. There weren’t many better stories in WWE history that were more significant that the triple threat in the main event of WrestleMania 35 and Becky Lynch stood tall at the culmination of it. I really feel like they limited her in some cases, but she ran with what she was given and became the biggest star in the company. Although she lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship fairly early into her title reign, she still holds the RAW Women’s Championship and I think she could hold it for a long time. I don’t think they could believably build someone up enough at the moment to take the title off of her. For the most part, she is still beloved by fans and there are many talented women on the roster, so it will be interesting to see who takes her down, but hopefully she will stay champion for a lengthy time.
